How to Convert M4A (AAC) to MP3
M4A (AAC) is the default format for iTunes purchases and iPhone voice memos. While it sounds great, some devices and older software don’t support it. Converting to MP3 makes the files universally compatible without noticeable quality loss at high bitrates.
Step 1 - Add your M4A files
Start MDHM Audio Converter, then either click the + button or drag and drop files directly into the window. You can add multiple files at once.

Step 2 - Select MP3 as the output format
Click the Format button on the toolbar. A dropdown shows recently used formats for quick access.

Step 3 - Set quality
Choose from predefined quality presets or select Custom to set the exact bitrate. For music, 256-320 kbps gives a good result.

Step 4 - Convert
Click the Convert button. Press it again if you need to stop mid-way.

Step 5 - Done
All tags and album art from the original M4A are preserved in the output MP3. Use Locate to jump to the output folder.
